The Sunday lunch was excellent. The service and atmosphere top notch. How anyone can rate this place below 5 stars is beyond me.
One of the many reasons to come back to the beautiful Ditchling.
Epic!!
There’s millions of good reasons why staying in a pub beats staying in a hotel.
Characterful bedrooms, the warmest welcome, plus great food & drink is always just few steps away.
Our six olde-worlde rooms are perched atop our lovely pub, and make a spot-on stop-over if you’re passing through Ditchling. Oh, and if you’re planning more of a holiday in the village, then you’ll be pleased to hear that there’s space for you to unpack your delicates, to sleep little ones (or dogs) that accompany you – plus bucket-loads to keep you entertained too.
Whether you are looking for a coastal getaway, a place to lay your head after exploring the Sussex countryside, or you are visiting nearby Brighton, there is plenty to entertain the whole family.
If you book with us, you really do make our day.

We love Ditchling and we just know you will too. If you’re looking for a weekend break (or planning a longer holiday) there’s plenty in Sussex for those who love adventure-ing, rambling, chilling, or beach-ing.
Honestly, so much. Soak up the best of the Sussex South Downs view from Ditchling Beacon, visit the chickens at Mac’s Farm, or mooch a mile up the road for a tour of Ridgeview Vineyard.
And we love to share personal recommendations, so feel free to ask us when you’re here. We’re a friendly bunch.
Check-in is from 3pm. If you arrive early and your room isn’t quite ready, kick-back at the bar (or in the garden) with a drink and a bite to eat. Latest check-in is 11pm.
Check-out (after a hearty brekkie) is by 11am.
Brekkie is served from 9am, 7 days a week.
If your room rate doesn’t include breakfast but you can’t quite resist, it’s no problem – simply pull up a chair and make yourself at home.
Two of our Boutique rooms can adjoin to make a super-spacious family room (be sure to add your request to your booking if this is what you’re after).
Kids under 2 stay for free. 2-16 are £15 per night.
Yes, please do. All our rooms are dog-friendly.
Just add your dog to your booking (up to two pups can stay with you for £20 per night), and we’ll make sure they get a VIP welcome with a doggy hamper full of tasty tail-wagging treats, a doggy bed or blanket and bowl.
We’ve got a small on-site car park, but if this is full there’s free parking at Ditchling Village Hall just opposite.
You can journey to us via train via Hassocks station, a 6-minute taxi ride away. You can usually find cabs just outside the station, but if you need a taxi number, just let us know and we’ll happily oblige.
We understand that plans sometimes change, so we try to make our booking policies super flexible. You can cancel or modify your booking up to 12pm the day before your arrival. If you cancel outside of this time or don’t show up, we’re sorry, but we’ll have to charge you for the first night of your stay. The only rate that’s not flexible is the Early Bird, this one’s non-refundable and non-amendable.

Of course. When booking online, you have the option to send an invoice in step 2. Missed this step? Not to worry, just ask at Reception and the team will email you a copy. Checked out already? Pop us an email and we’ll send one right over.
We stayed at the Bull over the Christmas period, had dinner and breakfast too.
The room was so lovely, cosy and the bed so comfortable.. the food! Wow! Absolutely delicious..
We will definitely be back, thank you!
Fantastic two night stay with our 2 children. Rooms were immaculate and very well presented. Breakfast and dinner were beautiful. Fabulous location with nice walks in the area and a short drive to Brighton.
Phil and his team could not do enough for us especially when our little girl was ill on the second evening. Highly recommended.
