The Sunday lunch was excellent. The service and atmosphere top notch. How anyone can rate this place below 5 stars is beyond me.
One of the many reasons to come back to the beautiful Ditchling.
Epic!!
Our 500-year-old pub is set in the very heart of Ditchling – a picture-postcard chocolate box village with impressive South Downs views and rustic charm by the bucket-load. The epitome of a Sussex country inn, we have six hideaway bedrooms, which are spot-on for weekend breaks, and for those who want to be close to Brighton (without all the hustle-and-bustle)
Our bar is full-to-the-rafters with friendly locals, and you’re always guaranteed a chin-wag. With local ales (yes – we proudly serve Harvey’s) cool craft-y beers, regularly changing cocktails, and some cork-poppingly good wines from around the world.
You’re going to love our food too. Head Chef Henri cooks up a storm in the kitchen, and loves whipping up piled-high-plates of comfort food. From your favourite pub classics – such as crispy fish & chips, hearty pies, and banging bangers & mash – to our specials, showcasing local produce. Oh, and our Sunday roast is blooming lovely too (if we do say so ourselves)
Phil & the team can’t wait to welcome you to our oh-so-cosy, olde-worlde pub.
Sunday roast-ing is a big part of British culture and there’s lots to love about it.
Is it is the not-so-humble crumble? Bottomless gravy? As many Yorkshire puds as you can handle?
We’ve managed to jot down just five of our top reasons for you to tuck-into an all-guns-blazing roast this Sunday.
We’re proud to announce our first Sip & Paint night on the 1st May.
Fun, interactive and fully-hosted evening. You’ll learn to paint, sip on a tipple, and have a jolly good time.
Seats at the table are limited, so better get a wiggle on.
Our bedrooms are perfect for day-dreaming and late-breakfasting.
Our Summer Nights pub & rooms package includes two no-alarm nights, a meal in the pub, breakfast each morning, and a Hugo Spritz as a welcome. Bliss.
We’re frying baking and grinding beans (coffee, not baked) from 9am Monday – Saturday.
Wander-in for a hearty Full English, cosy brunch with friends, or that post-dog-walk cuppa.
There’s loads of reasons to visit Sussex. From dog-friendly walks over the South Downs, local treasures (like Ditchling Museum) and the beautiful beaches of Brighton.
Our pub is more than just a beautiful building in the centre of Ditchling village, and so much goes on within these walls. Keep up to date with our regular updates on our community blog page

Fantastic two night stay with our 2 children. Rooms were immaculate and very well presented. Breakfast and dinner were beautiful. Fabulous location with nice walks in the area and a short drive to Brighton.
Phil and his team could not do enough for us especially when our little girl was ill on the second evening. Highly recommended.
