Best Pub in Ditchling

Our 500-year-old pub is set in the very heart of Ditchling –  a chocolate box village, with impressive South Downs views, and rustic charm by the bucket-load.

Our bar is full-to-the-rafters with friendly locals, and you’re always guaranteed a chin-wag. With local ales (yes – we proudly serve Harvey’s) cool craft-y beers, super-sippable summer cocktails, and some cork-poppingly good wines from around the world.

You’re going to love our food too. Head Chef Henri cooks up a storm in the kitchen, and loves whipping up piled-high-plates of cosy-season comfort food. From your favourite pub classics – such as crispy fish & chips, hearty pies, and banging bangers & mash – to our blackboard specials, showcasing local produce. Oh, and our Sunday roast is blooming scrumptious too (if we do say so ourselves)

The epitome of a Sussex country inn, we have six hideaway bedrooms, which are spot-on for weekend getaways and summer holiday mini breaks; especially for those who want to be close to Brighton (without all the hustle-and-bustle).

Phil & the team can’t wait to welcome you to our oh-so-charming pub.

You’ll Love Our Look

We’ve had a renovation. Everything you love about our pub has been amplified and all those tired-and-dated bits have been given a chance to shine. Previously painted beams have been stripped, new/old artwork’s been hung, the bar’s been polished to perfection – oh, and we’ve even uncovered an inglenook fireplace.

Nothing fancy or new – just a perfect example of a well-loved, proper country pub.

Cosy Season at the Pub

Cosy, candle-lit corners lure you in for a swift half after a welly-walk, or for a full-blown feast.

A warm welcome, open fires, cockle-warming autumn & winter comfort foods, and an eye-bogglingly enormous selection of drinks (oh, and some seriously good vibes) are always on the menu.
